Job description

Inspector, Poole, £18 per hour


Purpose

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will bring prior experience in precision manufacturing, working in ISO9001 and ideally AS9100 environments. You will be responsible for ensuring that manufactured products meet stringent quality standards through detailed inspections and documentation management.

Work hours are typically 07:30 / 08:00 - 16:30 / 17:00, with a half day Friday. The company also offers 25 days holiday (+ BHs), private health care, discretionary bonuses etc.


As a Mechanical Inspector, your responsibilities:

  1. Inspect manufactured products (machined components, welded fabrications, detailed assemblies, painting, etc.) to ensure compliance with relevant drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
  2. Compile Inspection Reports and FAIR documentation in line with internal procedures and customer requirements.
  3. Conduct first-off, in-process, final, and patrol inspections using handheld and CMM measuring equipment.
  4. Maintain and report company metrics for the Inspection Department.
  5. Coordinate calibration of inspection equipment and maintain associated records.
  6. Carry out Goods Inwards inspection, material, bought-out components, and sub-contract work, including surface and heat treatments.
  7. Support Material Review Board meetings and internal supplier non-conformance RCCA.

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will have:

  1. A background in precision manufacturing processes and the use of conventional measuring equipment.
  2. An understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing requirements, and tolerances.
  3. Experience in maintaining quality records.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
