Job description

Quality Inspector

Location: Goole

Pay Rate: £19.15 Umbrella per hour (standard) / £22.02 Umbrella (115% shift) per hour

£15.38 PAYE per hour (standard) / £17.70 PAYE (115% shift) per hour

Shift Patterns:

  • 6am - 2:30pm
  • 2:30pm - 10pm
  • 2pm - 8pm on a Friday

Inside IR35

Overview of Duties:

Responsible for routine, daily inspection of Rolling Stock cars, ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices. Supports the shopfloor with defect identification, data capture, and reporting for resolution. Ensures quality of end products and right-first-time delivery through end-of-line inspection.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Inspect safety-critical materials and products to specifications.
  • Make decisions based on specifications to prevent unsafe or non-compliant products from leaving the facility.
  • Report quality defects using designated systems, ensuring accurate identification and recording.
  • Conduct quality investigations to identify defect causes and report findings for rework or containment.
  • Monitor compliance with internal procedures and implement corrective actions.
  • Adhere to safety systems and controls; ensure personal and environmental safety.
  • Report EHS concerns/events appropriately.
  • Comply with Siemens Rail Systems HSQE policies.
  • Support goods-in inspection and validation of new materials.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Support containment activities off-site as needed.
  • Assist in achieving customer satisfaction through inspection and documentation.
  • Be aware of costs related to non-conformance, including rework and logistics.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and support team development.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Experience in an inspection role.
  • Experience in decision-making within safety-critical environments.
  • Technical background in mechanical or engineering fields.
  • Attention to detail and precise reporting skills.
  • Proficient with measurement tools (callipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Good IT and Microsoft Office skills, including digital reporting systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Professionalism in challenging situations; committed to quality.
  • Good organizational and planning skills; self-motivated.
  • PPE will be provided on-site as needed.
