Job description

Job Title: Quality Inspector

Location: Preston

Hours: Permanent, Days-Based

Shift: Monday to Thursday - 7:45am to 4:45pm, Friday - 7:45am to 11:45am

Pay: Up to £16.72 per hour (dependent on experience)

Holidays: 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

Job Overview:

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Quality Inspector to join a well-established precision engineering company in Preston. This is a permanent, days-based role offering a competitive rate of pay, generous holidays, and the chance to join a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined components.
  2. Use a wide range of inspection tools such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and surface finish testers.
  3. Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings to ensure components meet tight tolerances.
  4. Accurately document inspection results and maintain traceability records.
  5. Liaise with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
  6. Support continuous improvement and quality control initiatives on the shop floor.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  1. Previous experience in a quality inspection role within a CNC or precision engineering environment.
  2. Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
  3. Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) is desirable - however, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
  4. Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
