Job description

The opportunity

Our client is currently hiring for an experienced Mechanical Quality Inspector for a long term engagement at Hinkley Point C (HPC) to become responsible for preparing and reviewing Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and other QA documentation.

Contract: This role has been deemed inside IR35

Duration: 12 months

Rate: We estimate the rate to be in the region of £55.00 to £65.00 per hour depending on experience

Your duties and responsibilities will be:
  • Provide expert quality support for ongoing projects and maintenance works
  • Assess supplier and vendor QA documentation, including ITPs and Quality Plans
  • Collaborate with Welding and Project Engineers on technical submissions and QA compliance
  • Offer guidance on welding, NDT, material certification, and quality standards
  • Coordinate QA/QC across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines
  • Work closely with third-party inspectors to manage inspection processes
  • Maintain quality documentation within the company’s management system
  • Monitor quality performance through KPIs and identify areas for improvement
  • Participate in internal and external audits
  • Support and contribute to a strong HSE culture within the workshop
You will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Strong engineering background with proven QA/QC expertise
  • Skilled in creating and reviewing project QA documents and supplier submissions
  • Experienced with fabrication, welding, pipework, and NDT practices
  • Competent in radiographic interpretation and isometric drawings
  • Familiar with performance monitoring, KPIs, and continuous improvement practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and QA-related software
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Required Certifications:
  • CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
  • PCN Level 2 – Radiographic Interpretation
  • Recognised Engineering Qualification (e.g., ONC / BTEC / C&G or equivalent)
  • CCNSG Safety Passport (Mandatory)
