We are recruiting a social worker to be our new Quality Improvement Officer within our newly created quality and data team. The team provides a range of services to support performance and quality assurance within the children and families and justice social work service.

You will be a SSSC registered qualified social worker with substantial and current experience of being a senior social worker within a statutory childcare team aswell as experience demonstrating a commitment to improving services and outcomes for the children, young people and adults who use our social work service.

You will have an understanding of current pressures and priorities for staff working across children's services social work, as well as a solid grasp of the statutory and policy environment in which children's social work is delivered.

As a confident and experienced practitioner, you will support senior social workers in their role including appropriately challenging practice where required and advising alternative approaches. You will be involved in the review of practice and procedures and will play a leading role in identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting frontline managers to develop the capacity and performance of their teams.

Working alongside our existing Quality Improvement Officer, you will oversee complaints to the children and families and justice service, ensuring these are logged and managed appropriately and within statutory timescales. You will investigate complaints and provide responses where appropriate and support more senior officers in their handling of complaints.

You will have effective written and oral communication skills and have a warm and approachable manner, sensitive to the needs of others.

Substantial experience of supervising social workers and supporting their continuing professional development, leading professional development activities for social workers, in one-to-one and group settings and experience with Involvement in policy and practice change activities within your team and wider service is essential.
