Quality Improvement Analytics Analyst IV

Summary

The Quality Improvement Analytics (QIA) department provides clinical, quality, and patient experience analysis to ensure RWJBarnabas Health patients receive safe, high-quality care and an excellent patient experience. Using Performance Analytics tools and other systems (Press Ganey, CMS Stars, US News and World Report, Leapfrog, Vizient, Strata, EPIC, etc.), the QIA Analyst IV will assist with data gathering, prepare reports to measure and trend key performance metrics, and present results analytically for management across the Health System.

This position collaborates closely with the QIA Lead and Analysts to meet internal and external reporting deadlines, including federal and state agencies. It also works with key stakeholders to provide actionable insights, support decision-making, identify issues, and monitor strategic initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, math, computer science, or related fields required
  • Master’s Degree in nursing, health administration, public health, or related fields is a plus

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, with strong analytical skills
  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, VBA, and/or PowerQuery is beneficial
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze large datasets and present meaningful insights
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholder requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of quality improvement processes and methods, such as control charts and time-series analysis

Schedule: Hybrid role with primarily remote work and onsite as needed based on responsibilities.

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver routine reports to designated recipients within scheduled cadences.
  • Streamline and automate reporting using BI tools, develop visualizations, and train end users.
  • Create ongoing reports for new initiatives, standardize criteria, document processes, and facilitate automation and cross-training.
  • Handle ad hoc data requests ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to monitor key metrics and present results analytically.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, investigate variances, and find improvement opportunities.
  • Lead small to mid-size projects and contribute to larger strategic initiatives.
  • Educate users on data availability for optimal utilization.
  • Handle complex work independently and mentor team members.
  • Develop and execute solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Plan and schedule project tasks, ensure timely completion, and collaborate with stakeholders using methodologies like Agile, Lean, PDSA, Six Sigma.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and operational teams.
