Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic student to join our Quality team at the Daventry plant for a placement year starting Summer 2027. This on-site role requires relocation or travel and offers hands-on development in a global engineering environment.

You will work with engineers to support production quality, data analytics, dashboards, and automated reporting. Train in measurement, testing, and calibration while applying analytical thinking to real-world challenges within a major industrial

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
Understanding of industrial or production engineering.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with Python, Power BI, and data analytics for root-cause investigations.
Interest in machine learning and AI-assisted tools for quality data.
Experience building dashboards and automation tools.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Support key tasks and projects independently and within a team.
Use problem-solving skills to improve processes and procedures.
Assist Engineers with production and inspection activities to ensure components meet standards.
Monitor material performance and help adjust to maintain quality.
Identify defects by comparing components to technical specifications.
Conduct basic electrical, reliability and packaging tests.
Maintain accurate records and prepare technical reports.
Assist customers by interpreting product specifications and data.
Maintain test equipment and calibration to required standards.
