PJD Mechanical Engineering is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our SHEQ team and support quality across our workshop, projects and client sites.
This is a practical engineering quality role with a strong focus on welding, fabrication, inspection and project quality assurance.
You'll work closely with our workshop, site and project teams throughout the project lifecycle – helping ensure the work we manufacture and install meets the required specifications, codes, standards and customer expectations.
We're looking for someone who understands the realities of working within a fabrication and engineering environment and can apply quality requirements practically, while still maintaining the standards our customers expect.
You'll support quality assurance and control activities from initial project planning through to final documentation and client acceptance.
Your responsibilities will include:
We're looking for someone with practical quality experience gained within a welding, fabrication, mechanical engineering, pressure systems or similar heavy engineering environment.
You need to be comfortable working in both workshop and site environments and confident dealing with engineers, welders, inspectors, project teams, customers and third parties.
Ideally, you will hold:
Knowledge or experience of relevant standards and codes including BS EN ISO 3834, BS EN 12952, BS EN 13480, ASME IX, ASME B31.1 and/or ASME B31.3 would be particularly advantageous.
You'll also need:
As part of the role, you will receive:
Base: Doncaster
Travel: Regular travel to PJD and customer sites throughout the UK
This isn't a purely desk-based quality position.
You'll regularly spend time within our workshop and on operational/client sites. During busy project periods, you must also be prepared to work away from home for extended periods where required.
From time to time, you may also provide quality support to other engineering businesses within the wider Ropsley Group.
You'll be joining an established mechanical engineering business working on technically demanding projects where welding and fabrication quality genuinely matter.
Rather than focusing on one repetitive production process, you'll have exposure to different projects, customers, specifications and engineering environments.
It's an opportunity to use your technical knowledge practically, work closely with the people delivering the work and have a visible influence on quality from the workshop floor through to final client acceptance.
If you have a background in welding, fabrication or engineering quality and want a varied role combining technical quality, inspection, project support and site involvement, we'd like to hear from you.
