Job summary

ALTEN Group is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to drive QA/QC across a major HPC programme in the energy sector. You will deploy QA/QC arrangements, support manufacturing surveillance, and manage NCRs with a focus on compliant, high‑performing outcomes.

Located on-site in Bridgwater, Somerset, the role offers a progression path toward Quality Manager/Lead, with exposure to cross‑disciplinary teams and nuclear safety standards. English communications are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (IRCA or equivalent).
• NEC3 accreditation (Supervisor or PM training).

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy QA/QC arrangements across HPC organisation.
• Implement PQCPs, CQAPs and governance.
• Develop PQCP and CQAP aligned with project and regulatory requirements.
• Support manufacturing surveillance and inspections for nuclear safety.
• Manage NCRs and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Produce quality reporting and metrics for programme visibility.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Quality Engineer to support the development, implementation, and oversight of quality arrangements across the HPC programme. This role is ideal for experienced quality professionals who want to work at the heart of a major nuclear project, ensuring that quality assurance and quality control requirements are consistently applied across the full project lifecycle.

In this role, you will support the deployment of QA/QC processes, assist with manufacturing surveillance, manage NCRs, and contribute to quality reporting and metrics. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with engineering, project delivery, and supply chain teams to ensure robust, compliant, and high‑performing quality outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior‑level Quality Engineer looking to progress toward a Quality Manager or Quality Lead position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development of QA/QC arrangements for deployment across the HPC organisation.
• Implement key quality processes including PQCPs, CQAPs, and associated governance.
• Assist with PQCP and CQAP development, ensuring alignment with project and regulatory requirements.
• Support manufacturing surveillance and inspections, ensuring compliance with specifications and nuclear safety standards.
• Assist with NCR management and close‑out, ensuring timely resolution and effective corrective actions.
• Support quality reporting and metrics, contributing to programme‑wide visibility of quality performance.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience in project delivery within the nuclear power sector, with a significant focus on project quality.
• Solid understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning.
• Proven experience working on HPC or similar large‑scale nuclear programmes.
• Strong understanding of nuclear quality assurance, compliance, and governance.
• Experience interfacing with project teams and supply chain organisations.
• Ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and make informed recommendations.
• Proactive, flexible, and able to work independently with strong organisational discipline.
• Native‑level English communication skills (spoken and written).
• Senior‑level experience as a Quality Engineer, with the capability and ambition to progress into a Quality Manager/Lead role.
