Job summary

ALTEN is seeking a motivated Junior Quality Engineer in Ipswich to support QA and QC within a complex engineering and manufacturing environment.

You will work with engineering, manufacturing, procurement and supplier teams to ensure products meet quality standards and customer expectations, while developing your skills in quality management and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of QA and QC within engineering environments.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation is advantageous.
• Understanding of QMS and ISO 9001 basics.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and prepare ITPs.
• Familiarity with inspection and testing activities.
• Root cause analysis knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support quality management processes and regulatory compliance.
• Review inspection reports and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Assist internal audits and quality assessments.
• Contribute to non-conformance tracking and CAPA actions.
• Engage in supplier quality surveillance and audits as needed.
• Help drive continuous improvement and right-first-time goals.
• Prepare quality metrics and periodic reports.

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Quality Engineer to support quality assurance and quality control activities within a complex engineering and manufacturing environment.

This role is ideal for an individual with an engineering or quality background who is looking to develop their career within quality management. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and supplier teams to ensure products and processes meet the required quality standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Support the implementation and maintenance of quality management processes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable procedures, specifications, and industry standards.
• Assist with internal audits and quality assessments.
• Support the management of quality records and documentation.

Quality Control

• Review inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Assist with the monitoring of non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Support investigation of quality issues and root cause analysis activities.
• Participate in quality reviews and technical meetings.
• Support supplier quality surveillance and performance monitoring.
• Assist in resolving supplier quality concerns.
• Support supplier audits and assessments where required.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement.
• Support lessons learned and quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to reducing defects and improving right-first-time performance.

Documentation Management

• Review and maintain quality documentation.
• Ensure inspection and test records are complete and accurately filed.
• Support preparation of quality reports and metrics.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Understanding of quality assurance and quality control and experience of doing it within an engineering environment.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation is advantageous.
• Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and doing ITPs.
• Awareness of inspection and testing activities.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies is desirable.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, orequivalentmilitary experience.
• Industrial, ideally Nuclear or Oil and Gas quality experience
