Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the Project Quality Plan (PQP) across all project phases, ensuring compliance with client, statutory, and ISO standards.
- Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) from contractors and subcontractors for pipeline and associated infrastructure works.
- Conduct regular site technical inspections and audits across various activities, including trenchless and open-cut pipeline sections.
- Lead Non-Conformance Report (NCR) management: raising, investigating, tracking, and verifying closure with root cause analysis.
- Interface with design, construction, and commissioning teams to embed quality through design verification, construction monitoring, and system handover.
- Coordinate materials testing and third-party inspections, especially for pipe materials, welds, coatings, and civil foundations.
- Manage quality records to ensure traceability for weld maps, pressure testing, coating integrity, and mechanical completions.
- Support hydrostatic testing and commissioning, including punch-list development and performance monitoring.
- Participate in lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives throughout project delivery.
Job Description
The post holder will join an experienced, specialist infrastructure and major projects contractor with multiple projects in the North, capitalizing on their growing reputation and expanding client base. As compliance needs grow, a dedicated role focusing on Major Projects and Infrastructure has been identified.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Manager in large-scale infrastructure, pipeline, or energy projects.
- Proven experience in pipeline construction QA/QC, trenchless technologies, welding inspections, coating systems, and pressure testing.
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification, capable of managing audit processes and maintaining quality systems.
- Understanding of relevant codes and standards such as ASME B31.8, BS 4515-1, API 1104, ISO 21809.
- Competent in reviewing and compiling quality documentation like ITPs, method statements, and quality dossiers.
- Familiarity with Civil Engineering QA processes, especially for access roads, AGI/BVS foundations, and reinstatement scopes.
- Strong experience managing subcontractor quality deliverables and resolving quality issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Welding inspection qualification (CSWIP), NDT (PCN), or mechanical engineering background is advantageous.
