Job description

Our Cable Connectivity Solutions Team provides innovative fiber optic and copper cable and connectivity solutions for use in data centers, business enterprises, telecommunications, cable television, and residential broadband networks. We are hiring for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Catawba, NC.

As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for quality support of production operations in CommScope’s North Carolina facilities. You will work closely with other quality engineers, process engineering, operators, supervisors, project managers, and external connectivity locations to maintain and improve quality, quality systems, and manufacturing costs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Active participation in new product development, cost reduction projects, overseeing adherence to established quality and work standards.
  2. Supervision and development of quality technicians.
  3. Communicate with all levels of the organization regarding KPIs and corrective and preventive actions.
  4. Complete and maintain quality deliverables such as control plans, test plans, sampling justifications.
  5. Monitor MRB areas, expedite dispositions, and lead root cause analysis of internal failures.
  6. Report, review, and analyze customer complaints, using 8D methodology, to identify repetitive issues, common root causes, and trends to help drive reduction in overall complaints. Respond to internal and external complaints.
  7. Analyze, investigate, document, and report supplier issues.
  8. Review and analyze non-conformances to identify failure modes and trends.
  9. Support quality projects or initiatives as needed.
  10. Provide engineering and preventive maintenance support for test equipment.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a related curriculum.
  2. Good understanding of quality concepts, problem solving, process improvement techniques, root cause analysis, 8D methodology, FMEAs, control plans, SPC, CpK, DOEs, poka yoke.
  3. Flexible to work in various product lines and locations, supporting shift work if necessary.
  4. Experience or certification in auditing (TL 9000, ISO 9001) preferred.
  5. High energy level, strong work ethic, and desire to learn.
  6. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  8. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively and independently across all levels of the organization.
  10. Ability or potential to present and report data effectively.
  11. Self-driven, innovative, proficient in Microsoft Office platforms.

Preferred qualifications include:

  1. ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, etc.).
  2. Greenbelt or Blackbelt certifications.
  3. Experience with SAP or other MRP systems, SQL, Visual Basic.
  4. Experience in new product introduction, engineering changes, and QMS systems.
