Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Sheffield is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to ensure the highest standards of quality across exciting engineering projects. This role involves attending quality meetings, generating manufacturing specifications, and ensuring compliance with national and international standards. Strong communication skills and the ability to read technical drawings are essential. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients and ensures project quality from concept to completion.

Qualifications

  • Ability to assimilate and analyse information.
  • Systematic and disciplined approach to work.
  • Experience with compiling LTQR’s and other Quality related documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

  • Attend internal design and external quality meetings.
  • Generate manufacturing specifications from client’s requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards.
  • Perform internal and supplier audits against project requirements.
  • Act as key contact with customers’ auditors.
  • Ensure procedures are understood and changes are investigated.
  • Coordinate with customer QC for QA requirements.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits.
  • Perform manufacturing inspections at supplier sites.
  • Expedite suppliers to secure timely approvals and documents.
  • Liaise with customers’ auditors and drive corrective actions.
  • Assess supplier specs, quality plans and ITPs.
  • Check drawings for manufacturability.
  • Update the quality system as required.
  • Write project quality requirements from client specs.
  • Must understand statistics and have good numeracy and interpersonal skills.
  • Understand mechanical and electrical handling industry.
  • Read technical drawings.
  • Experience in a Quality Team.
  • Experience compiling LTQRs and related documents.
  • Plan, schedule and monitor own work to defined timescales.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and staff at all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Job description

We are looking for a project quality engineer to join our team and help ensure the highest of standards of quality across some of the most exciting engineering projects in the UK. Key Responsibilities
  • Attend internal design and external quality meetings to facilitate QC requirements
  • Assess product specifications and customer requirements
  • Generate manufacturing specifications from client’s requirements
  • Generate overarching Inspection & Test Plans for projects
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards
  • Ensure procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated, and that product modifications are investigated if necessary
  • Liaise and manage with customer QC to facilitate all of the QA requirements on a project
  • Perform internal and supplier audits against project requirements
  • Carry out manufacturing inspections on suppliers’ premises
  • Expedite suppliers to ensure approval and final documents are received on time
  • Act as key contact with customers’ auditors and take responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers’ specifications
  • Assess suppliers’ product specifications, quality plans & ITP’s
  • Check drawing for manufacturability
  • Update the quality system as and when required
  • Write project quality requirements from client specifications
  • Knowledge of statistics is required with general numeracy, coupled with good interpersonal skills. The job function covers all aspects of a work group's or company’s operation and requires the ability to assimilate and analyse information
  • Thorough understanding of the mechanical and electrical handling industry
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience of working within a Quality Team
  • Experience with compiling LTQR’s and other Quality related documents
