We're supporting a leading defence and aerospace organisation in their search for a contract Quality Engineer to join their team in Fife. You'll be part of a collaborative and driven group, ensuring quality standards are met across complex, high-profile programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting first article inspections, maintaining compliance records, and playing a key role in continuous improvement initiatives.

Please note that this role is a 6-month fixed-term contract.

What you'll be doing:

  • Performing First Article Inspections (FAIRs), ideally to AS9102 standards.

  • Supporting quality investigations and root cause analysis to maintain product integrity.

  • Managing and maintaining quality records using digital systems.

  • Supporting audits, including internal process reviews and external accreditation checks.

  • Working closely with programme and functional teams to uphold contractual and regulatory quality standards.

  • Driving the timely resolution of non-conformances and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience with FAIRs and a solid understanding of AS9102 documentation.

  • Background in quality engineering within an electronics or mechanical assembly environment.

  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.

  • Confident communicator who can build strong working relationships across teams.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge when needed.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Interest or background in the aerospace or defence sectors.

  • Experience navigating quality challenges in fast-paced programme environments.

  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent hands-on experience.

What's on offer:

  • 4-day working week (37 hours) based on-site in Glenrothes.

  • Flexible, supportive team culture with a focus on collaboration and shared success.

  • The chance to contribute to high-impact programmes that support global security and innovation.

This is a contract role suited to someone who thrives in a regulated, detail-driven environment and takes pride in upholding the highest standards of quality.
