Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a highly-regulated manufacturing business in Royston with an experienced Quality Engineer. You’ll support the Quality Management System while leading quality improvement activities across manufacturing and supplier operations.

You’ll use structured problem-solving techniques and quality planning tools to reduce variation, improve process capability and deliver continuous improvement across the business.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Auditing or quality system experience preferred.
  • Lead investigations using structured methodologies.

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a highly-regulated manufacturing business in the search for an experienced Quality Engineer in Royston This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that is committed to engineering excellence, continuous improvement and delivering the highest levels of quality to its global customer base.

As Quality Engineer, you'll support the Quality Management System while leading quality improvement activities across manufacturing and supplier operations. You'll use structured problem-solving techniques and quality planning tools to reduce variation, improve process capability and deliver continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a zero-defect culture through continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, customer complaints and cost of poor quality.
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints, supplier issues and internal non-conformances using methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone and DMAIC.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities, ensuring timely containment, disposition and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional root cause investigations and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Validation and Production Readiness Reviews.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, inspection plans and controlled procedures.
  • Analyse quality performance through SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA and Gauge R&R, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits while supporting ongoing compliance activities.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance through audits, corrective actions and supplier development initiatives.
  • Develop meaningful quality KPIs and visual management tools to support data-driven decision making.
  • Champion customer requirements across the business, ensuring product conformity and continual improvement.
About You

We're looking for a proactive Quality Engineer with experience within a precision manufacturing environment, ideally aerospace, who enjoys solving complex problems and driving measurable improvements.

You’ll ideally have
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in a Quality Engineering role within an a high reg manufacturing environment.
  • Internal Auditor qualification (Lead Auditor desirable).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends using Excel and statistical techniques.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
  • Experience with Minitab, CMM or FARO measurement systems would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering and supply chain.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional quality.
