Quality Engineer

Are you an experienced Quality Engineer? Do you have experience working in a fast paced engineering/manufacturing environment? If so, our client is a leading manufacturing business who specialise in delivering precision components for a variety of industries. I am looking for a Quality Engineer Supervisor to join a very successful business on a permanent basis.

Overall Purpose:
To analyse and reduce non-conformances within the facility to ensure the delivery of world class components that are fit for purpose in a timely manner and at a competitive cost.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as customer quality contact including purchase order, component drawing, customer and International specification reviews and approval of sales shipments.
  2. Review and over check of customer procedures and quality documentation.
  3. Reduce complaints, returns and escapes by identifying robust corrective actions in the format of RCCA or 8D reports.
  4. Control of changes and fixed process approvals including metallurgical and dimensional FAIR reviews and submissions to the customer.
  5. Maintain customer and international approvals as necessary.
  6. Conduct audits to ensure quality management system is robust including vertical and customer audits.
  7. Contribute as required to the development of new products.
  8. Help educate and train inspectors on the customer's quality requirements.
  9. Review and approve internal concession notes.
  10. Raise customer concessions and non-conformance report and ensure closure with required actions.
  11. Work closely with Product Engineering teams to resolve problems and reduce scrap.
  12. Work closely with Manufacturing teams to resolve problems and reduce rework.
  13. Perform work efficiently and in a positive manner.
  14. Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve the effectiveness of our quality systems.
  15. Internal scrap and non-conformance.
  16. AS9100 retention.
  17. Liaise with internal and external customers on a regular basis.
  18. Plan and carry out all internal audits.
  19. Close out of non-conformance.

Experience / Skills:
A Quality Engineer should be able to demonstrate real world experience of key skills such as:
  1. Root cause investigations and problem solving.
  2. Clear and concise auditing and report writing.
  3. Understanding and implementation of customer requirements/specifications.
  4. Management of key quality metrics and budgets.
  5. Good understanding of quality assurance accreditations (AS9100, etc.).
  6. Experience of customer and internal audits.
  7. Project management experience.

Qualifications: Would ideally have a degree in engineering but not essential. As a minimum an A level in maths or equivalent.

7.30 to 16.30 Mon/Tues
7.30 to 16.15 Wed/Thurs
7.30 to 12.00 noon Friday
