Quality Engineer Responsibilities

  1. Support the implementation, maintenance, performance, and improvement of the Quality Management System using appropriate quality tools and techniques.
  2. Work independently and as part of a team in conducting Quality Engineering activities.
  3. Align work with KPM Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies, Procedures, and Instructions.
  4. Identify performance trends and potential or actual non-conformances in products and processes through data gathering, analysis, monitoring, and auditing.
  5. Make decisions such as stopping production, driving containment actions, and taking corrective or preventive actions to ensure effective defect management.
  6. Propose and implement robust, cost-effective solutions and improvements.
  7. Perform audits, inspections, measurements, and tests accurately and timely.
  8. Report results, trends, actions, and progress clearly, concisely, and based on data.
  9. Develop effective relationships with team members, departments, suppliers, and customers to facilitate quality improvements.
  10. Provide training support and address barriers to quality enhancement.

Quality to Customer & NPI

  • Monitor customer performance, analyze trends, and report findings.
  • Manage process control, develop gauging methods, and analyze process data and issues.
  • Support process control training on the shop floor.
  • Conduct supplier visits supporting APQP and PPAP processes.
  • Perform measurements and support projects as required.
  • Deputize in material sentencing, morning walks, etc.

Process Control & Cleanliness

  • Gather shop floor SPC and Dim Check Sheet data, analyze trends, and provide quick feedback.
  • Support measurement activities and projects as needed.

Quality Management System and Audits

  • Support document management and training across functions.
  • Conduct internal process and systems audits.
  • Assist with external audits and related actions.

Production QA Support

  • Provide quick feedback on issues from internal and customer sources.
  • Manage disposition sentencing, morning walks, RTS, and defect processing.
  • Liaise with production to resolve issues.
  • Support first-off training and product audits of pumps, assemblies, and components.
  • Perform measurements and support projects as needed.
  • Deputize on motor issues and personnel administration if necessary.
