Quality Engineer
Location: Manchester
Salary: Circa GBP45,000
Our client is a market leader in the manufacture, design, and qualification of composite and PU material solutions for the defence, aerospace, health, rail, and automotive sectors. They are seeking a Quality Engineer to join their growing team at their Manchester manufacturing site.
Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer
- Execute daily responsibilities within the Quality function for your allocated value stream team.
- Utilize standard Quality Engineering tools and processes to ensure accurate and consistent quality activities organization-wide.
- Lead the implementation of effective APQP processes within your team.
- Collaborate with the Process Engineer to complete PFMEA and Control Plan activities for all production processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust process controls to support product and process quality.
- Monitor manufacturing process data, identify issues, and propose continuous quality improvements.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering to enhance quality performance in production.
- Implement process control measures, including SPC techniques, to ensure consistent quality and reduce variation.
- Provide support and troubleshooting for quality issues, aiming to improve OEE and first-time right performance.
- Conduct process capability studies, statistical analysis, and data-driven decisions to achieve operational excellence.
- Support quality responsibilities during new product and process introductions.
- Participate in Lean improvement activities from a Quality perspective.
- Lead responses to Customer Quality Concerns, including root cause analysis using tools like 8D, PPS, and DMAIC.
- Manage production scrap through effective MRB process utilization.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant Quality Engineering experience in a complex AS9100 Rev D or ISO9001 manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Quality management methodologies such as APQP, PPAP, PSW, FAIR, ISIR, SPC, and Control Plans.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for resolving complex process issues.
- Knowledge of process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Trained AS9100/ISO9001 Auditor.
- Experience with CMM measurement technology.
