This position is located at our Malvern, PA site.

Purpose:

The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for total product quality in the manufacturing environment. This role will be focused on continuous improvement efforts throughout the manufacturing and material testing process that reduce waste and improve customer satisfaction.

Job Skills, Experience, and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, or related field ; associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Firsthand Quality Assurance or Lab Supervisory experience of 2 or more years .
  • Knowledge of the converting industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within Company software systems including but not limited to the ability to create reports and correspondence with word processing, create spreadsheets, accurately update databases, and utilize statistical analysis software (Minitab ).
  • Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Background in Lean/Six Sigma strongly .
  • Meticulous; strong organization skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Promote safety by leading by example, participating in safety engagements, and encouraging the team to work safe each day and to follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Supervise the Quality Testing Lab in the Malvern facility, including:
    • Scheduling of hourly staff, enforce guidelines for attendance and discipline
    • Review of specification test results for produced goods
    • Perform capability analysis or gauge R&R analysis for current testing equipment
    • Able to effectively operate all quality lab equipment
  • Accountable for Customer Complaint Investigation and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Accountable for Internal Corrective Actions and follow up to make sure root cause analysis and effectiveness is sufficient.
  • Accountable for Internal Rejects and Reworks to ensure that defective material does not get shipped to the customers.
  • Manage the calibration program for all plant measuring tools.
  • Utilize a variety of Company databases, including but not limited to:
    • Finishing Specifications
    • Customer/Product Specifications
    • QDMS (Quality Data Management System)
    • SAP
  • Experienced leadership on ISO 9001 and Quality Management system, and leading internal or external audits of the Malvern plant.
  • Partner with other engineers on continuous improvement activities focused on product quality in the lab or on the plant floor.
  • Review recent technology or new equipment that would provide improvements to the current quality lab.
  • Review product and customer requirements for new product qualifications and trials to ensure capability of meeting customer requirements
