Job description

Our client, operating within the Defence & Security and Aerospace sectors, is seeking a contract Quality Engineer to join their team in Glenrothes. This Fixed-Term Contract position involves supporting high-profile programmes, requiring effective teamwork to achieve quality standards in a complex engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing First Article Inspections (FAIRs), preferably to AS9102 standards
  • Investigating defects to identify and address root causes
  • Maintaining quality records (QPulse)
  • Monitoring and reporting the status of assigned programmes or areas of responsibility
  • Communicating with programme and functional areas to support business goals
  • Conducting Quality Audits (product/product release/process)
  • Supporting external accreditation audits and understanding regulatory requirements (AS9100 & ISO 9001)
  • Ensuring customer contractual requirements and external regulations are adhered to
  • Closing Audit NC's/RCCA/customer complaints and promoting Continual Improvement

Job Requirements

Essential Candidate Qualities:

  • A self-starting and confident team player who works well with others and inspires them
  • Experience and knowledge of FAIRs to AS9102 Standards, including documentation and reporting
  • Background in Quality Engineering with knowledge of electronics and/or mechanical assemblies, and technical drawings
  • Ability to establish and nurture productive relationships internally and externally
  • Familiarity with Quality Standards AS9100 & ISO9001
  • Ability to work autonomously to deliver agreed goals
  • Capability to anticipate problems, identify innovative solutions, and act on them confidently
  • Unafraid to challenge and question

Desirable Candidate Qualities

  • Interest in Aerospace and/or Defence
  • Supportive nature with the character to navigate and overcome Programme challenges
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant work experience

This role requires you to work from the Glenrothes site with a 4-day working week, totalling 37 hours.
