Job Title: Quality Engineer

Location: Dudley Borough

Pay Rates: £32,000 - £40,000

Shift Patterns: Monday - Friday, 40-hour week starting from 05:00 am

We are recruiting for a senior quality inspector/quality engineer to join a growing business. This position will promote a culture of quality and implement the necessary processes and systems to support quality improvement. The role involves fostering continual improvement and process excellence through a 'quality first' culture.

Brief Description of Job Duties
  1. Generating, controlling, monitoring, reporting, and reviewing quality data to identify and communicate trends.
  2. Leading RCA teams in identifying and resolving quality issues using tools such as 5 Whys, 8D, and corrective action tracking.
  3. Maintaining communication of internal and external rejects to stakeholders and implementing process controls.
  4. Recording and controlling internal and external rejects and their disposition.
  5. Conducting scrap and customer return reviews.
  6. Generating quality documents such as quality alerts and SOPs.
  7. Upkeeping quality data and reporting to the business.
  8. Performing physical measurements using basic inspection equipment like verniers and height gauges.
  9. Auditing processes across the business to ensure compliance with procedures.
  10. Inputting data and compliance documentation into QMS.
  11. Driving targeted improvements to eliminate non-conformances and tracking the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  12. Identifying product, process, and manufacturing improvements.
  13. Reducing variability in casting quality through active pursuit of quality system and process control improvements.
  14. Devising procedures to inspect and report quality issues and concerns.
  15. Managing Standard Work documentation (SOPs, One Point Lessons).
  16. Developing documentation to support product development.
  17. Participating in customer audit visits and assessments.
Requirements
  • Proven technical foundry knowledge related to production processes, foundry capabilities, and controls for high integrity ductile iron.
  • Ability to facilitate Lean and Root Cause Analysis projects.
  • Knowledge of ITAF and ISO standards.
