Job summary

A leading global manufacturer of fluid-flow and mechanical systems is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team in Droitwich Spa. You will oversee inspection activities across incoming, in-process and final stages, ensuring products meet drawings and quality standards.

The role covers NDT, welding quality, documentation, CAPA/NCR processes, and continuous improvement. Candidates should have ISO 9001 experience and strong communication to work with production and third-party

Qualifications

  • Hands-on quality experience in mechanical or electromechanical manufacturing.
  • Experience in fabrication, pipework or modular plant construction.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings, electrical schematics and technical datasheets.
  • Experience using precision-measurement equipment, pressure-testing rigs and torque tools.
  • Understanding welding quality requirements, material traceability and NDT methods.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality-management systems.
  • Experience producing inspection plans, quality documentation and project data books.
  • Strong knowledge of NCR, CAPA and structured problem-solving processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with production teams, customers and third-party inspectors.
  • A Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering qualification would be advantageous.
  • Six Sigma, SPC or continuous-improvement experience would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of PED, UKCA, ASME, EN pipework standards or ATEX would be advantageous.
  • Basic electrical and instrumentation testing experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate incoming, in-process and final inspection activities.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct dimensional checks against general arrangement drawings and isometric drawings.
  • Inspect bolt torques, gasket types, flow directions and product identification.
  • Coordinate visual, penetrant, magnetic-particle, radiographic and ultrasonic testing where required.
  • Review non-destructive testing reports and ensure any findings are resolved.
  • Ensure products comply with ISO 9001, PED, UKCA and applicable ASME and EN pipework requirements.
  • Maintain material and heat-number traceability throughout production.
  • Control calibrated measuring equipment and welding consumables.
  • Create and maintain inspection and test plans, quality plans, inspection checklists and weld maps.
  • Manage non-conformance reports, concessions, corrective actions and preventive actions.
  • Produce complete manufacturing data books and project handover documentation.
  • Maintain welding, NDT, pressure-testing, electrical-testing, FAT and SAT records.
  • Lead root-cause investigations using 5 Whys and Ishikawa.
  • Monitor SPC information, first-pass yield and defect trends.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce rework and improve manufacturing quality.
  • Recommend mistake-proofing, standardisation and design-for-manufacture improvements.
  • Coach welders, fitters and assembly technicians on inspection and testing requirements.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and communicate quality risks clearly.
  • Support client and third-party inspections, including hold and witness points.
  • Travel to supplier sites occasionally to complete quality inspections.

Our client is a leading global manufacturer of innovative fluid-flow and mechanical systems and is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their growing team!

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for maintaining high product-quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This position will cover inspection, compliance, quality documentation, continuous improvement and supplier quality.
