At Leonardo, we have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer within our Servicing and Support line of business (Advance Targeting) based in Edinburgh.
The servicing and support line of business (AT) is uniquely positioned to service our world-leading radars, lasers, and infra-red countermeasure systems.
As an AT Product Assurance Engineer, you will interact at Programme and Integrated Project Team (IPT) level, working in partnership with the Programme and Project Managers. Please note this role will include shift working (4on/4off).
What you’ll do as a Quality Engineer
You will interact at IPT level and work with the Operations team/IPT to:
- Offer advice, support, and assistance on all Quality Assurance / Quality Control matters
- Contribute to IPT requirements to deliver compliant products on time, meeting all cost and safety standards
- Agree on Project Assurance Plans (PAP) defining project assurance activities aligned to Risks, Opportunities, and Improvements within the Programme
- Provide leadership to Assurance Teams to meet Programme and IPT objectives
- Ensure LPS goals for Quality KPIs (QNs, MRB, FRBs, etc.) are achieved by supporting improvement plans and managing key activities like MRB
- Lead improvement plans across all phases of the Programme, Product, and Project Lifecycle
- Mentor others to foster Quality excellence
- Apply interpersonal skills to positively influence behaviors within Quality at individual and team levels
- Attend and contribute to key meetings such as IPT, morning meetings, DPU forums, Engineering WO meetings, etc.
- Ensure concessions and production permits are processed correctly and promptly, supporting where needed
- Support achievement of project assurance milestones throughout the lifecycle
- Assist in delivering reports and data to the Programme, Project, and function as required
- Support reduction of Non-Conformance costs and promote a root cause and corrective action culture
What we need from you:
- Further education and experience in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or Defence Electronics or similar complex industries
- Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 and Continuous Improvement
- Experience with Quality Tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification, and First Article Inspection
- Logical thinking skills to analyze complex data and develop practical solutions aligned with business goals
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills across functions
- Experience working with Customers and Suppliers
- Experience in high precision manufacturing environments
