Job description

Quality Engineer

Location: Bristol

Reports to: Quality Manager

Security Clearance: SC (Eligible for clearance)

Role Purpose

To ensure both project quality requirements and compliance standards across the organisation are achieved, ensuring that the mechanisms are in place to communicate the respective legal requirements and standards to the relevant stakeholders and that best practice and regulatory compliance is being achieved effectively.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain a quality management system for the business which demonstrates the compliance performance of the business with regulations.
  • Lead on collaborative continuous improvement activities for the business and its projects so that processes and procedures are efficient and effective.
  • Conduct audits on both projects and central processes to ensure compliance against business management system and project manage subsequent improvement activities identified.
  • Manage the co-ordination, implementation and monitoring of quality policies, processes and documentation across the business to ensure compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and audit management systems including resilience and contingency planning to ensure effective management of quality risks and business continuity.
  • Provide guidance and advise to both projects and functional areas of the business promoting a quality culture including delivering quality training to promote best quality practices and awareness of and regulatory requirements set on the business.
  • Enable effective and timely product assurance to project teams so that products can be released to the customer in the knowledge they are compliant and meet the customers’ expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to share and ensure compliance throughout the product lifecycle from concept to in-service support.
  • Lead, monitor and advise the BMS Partners within the business on their departmental responsibilities to ensure procedures and processes are reviewed in a timely manner that aligns to certification requirements.
  • Lead non-conformity management of internal and external non-conformances raised to closure.
  • Deliver and manage yearly audit schedule, including external BSI audits, to ensure compliance to all regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and standards relevant to business and updating processes accordingly to ensure the business stays compliant to regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate monthly QHSE reporting to the wider business, to ensure the whole organisation has visibility of QHSE activities, upcoming future events and achievements.

Qualifications

  • Auditing experience and a good knowledge of relevant ISO standards and Quality Engineering protocols, statistical tools, methodology and continuous improvement techniques is required.
