Overview
Quality Engineer
Location: Bridgwater
Contract: Permanent
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations including ISO 9001:2015.
- Conduct thorough quality inspections and audits of products, processes, and systems to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to establish quality checkpoints throughout the manufacturing process.
- Design and implement testing protocols and procedures to evaluate product performance and reliability.
- Analyse results and data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, including non-conformities and customer complaints.
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve quality standards, processes, and systems.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes of quality issues.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to optimise product design, manufacturing processes, and supplier quality.
- Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
- Prepare and present regular reports on quality performance metrics to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with documentation requirements, including quality manuals and standard operating procedures.
- Evaluate supplier performance and capabilities for both external machine builds and purchased items to ensure adherence to quality standards and requirements.
- Establish quality criteria and specifications for incoming materials and components.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve product quality throughout the supply chain.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in quality engineering or a related role, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify actionable insights.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate quality-related information to diverse audiences.
- Detail oriented and organised, with a commitment to accuracy and precision in all quality-related activities.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to continuously seek opportunities for improvement.
- Willingness to travel to sub-contract machine builders in the UK and abroad.
