Job summary

Connected Search Group is seeking a Documentation Officer to join an established microbiology laboratory in Derbyshire. The role combines quality, documentation and technical microbiology, with involvement in investigations, compliance, reporting and technical support.

Working within a GMP and ISO 17025 environment, you will ensure day-to-day quality and compliance while contributing to microbiological testing when required, and supporting customers with technical and testing requirements.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology or a related discipline. BTEC or equivalent qualifications may also be considered.
  • Experience in a microbiology laboratory to UKAS/GMP standards.
  • Strong understanding of quality and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage quality event investigations including non-conformances, OOS investigations, CAPAs and change controls.
  • Generate, review and approve laboratory test reports.
  • Review and authorise laboratory data and perform data trending.
  • Prepare and review SOPs, test methods and other controlled documentation.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to laboratory staff.
  • Assist with scheduling and prioritisation of test samples.
  • Liaise with customers regarding technical and testing requirements.
  • Support microbiological testing and plate reading as required.
  • Ensure activities comply with GMP and ISO 17025.

Documentation Officer - Microbiology

Location: Nr Buxton, Derbyshire

Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, onsite

Site open from 7.30-6pm Mon-Fri

We are recruiting for a Documentation Officer to join an established microbiology laboratory based in Derbyshire.

This is a role combining quality, documentation and technical microbiology, making it an opportunity for an experienced laboratory microbiologist looking to move into a position with greater involvement in investigations, compliance, reporting and technical support.

Working within a GMP and ISO 17025 environment, you will support the day-to-day quality and compliance of the laboratory while remaining involved in microbiological testing when required.

The role
  • Managing and supporting quality event investigations, including non-conformances, OOS investigations, CAPAs, change controls, complaints and risk assessments
  • Generating, reviewing and approving laboratory test reports
  • Reviewing and authorising laboratory data
  • Carrying out data trending and identifying potential issues or areas for improvement
  • Preparing and reviewing SOPs, test methods and other controlled laboratory documentation
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to laboratory staff
  • Supporting the scheduling and prioritisation of test samples
  • Liaising directly with customers regarding technical and testing requirements
  • Supporting microbiological testing and plate reading as required
  • Ensuring laboratory activities are performed in accordance with GMP and ISO 17025 requirements
  • Supporting customer visits and third-party events
About you
  • A degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology or a related discipline. BTEC or equivalent qualifications may also be considered alongside relevant experience
  • Previous experience working within a microbiology laboratory to UKAS/GMP standards (either or both considered)
  • A good understanding of laboratory quality and documentation requirements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to provide technical support and communicate directly with customers

This position would particularly suit someone with microbiology testing experience and a quality focus, or someone looking to develop further within quality, compliance, investigations and laboratory documentation.
