JOB ROLE: Quality Coordinator

JOB LOCATION: Shepley, Huddersfield

REPORTING TO: Audit & Compliance Manager

Shepley Spring are the UK's leading bottled water manufacturer with over 20 years' experience in production and are proud to remain a family run business to this day.

The company operates in three manufacturing facilities across Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Lidl, Booker Tesco and Sainsbury through private label and produces the brands Ice Valley and White Rock exclusively.

Summary:

The Quality Coordinator in our food & beverage manufacturing business is responsible for ensuring the highest standards in Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety practices.

This role focuses on implementing and managing food safety and quality systems, maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, and promoting a safe workplace for all employees.

The Quality Coordinator will manage supplier approval, product and raw material specifications, customer portals and compliance requests, lead NPD process including artwork and packaging development and approval, support continuous improvement trials and initiatives across all 3 sites, and work collaboratively across departments to mitigate risks, enhance product quality, and encourage a culture of safety and sustainability within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement, monitor, and enhance Quality Management Systems (QMS) in line with industry standards (HACCP, BRC….)
  • Manage internal product, raw material and customer specifications, including management of customer and compliance portals and requests.
  • Manage raw material supplier approval, non-conformance and auditing process
  • Lead New Product Development (NPD), trials, artwork and packaging development process and requirements.
  • Manage and audit traceability systems.
  • Cover QA Technician and Technical Specialist roles as required
  • Support quality-related training for employees to foster a culture of excellence.

Environmental Management:

  • Participate in environmental risk assessments and sustainability initiatives.
  • Prepare required environmental and packaging reports for regulatory authorities.

Health and Safety:

  • Promote and enforce workplace safety programs and ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in QEHS systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and improved product quality.
  • Track and analyse QEHS metrics and provide regular performance reports to management.

Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a QEHS role within the food & beverage manufacturing industry.
  • HACCP, BRC, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with BRC food safety standards, retailers code of practice.
  • Experience with customer supplier portals and specifications
  • Approval of packaging and artwork experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and quality management software tools.
  • Ability to identify issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure coordinated efforts.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and operational needs.
  • Ability to lead by example and influence others in maintaining high QEHS standards.

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Working Hours: 37.5
