A food production company in Shifnal is seeking a Quality Controller to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. Quality Controller - Food ProductionPay Rate:
- £12.80/hour (Pre 12 weeks)
- £13.60/hour (Post 12 weeks)
Working Hours:
- Permanent Days - 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Thursday
Responsibilities:- Weight Checks:
- Perform weight checks at start-up, hourly, and at the end of the shift for all allocated lines. Verify TL is correct.
- Product Integrity Checks:
- Ensure GRN trace ability to finished product.
- Verify date codes, lot codes, correct packaging, first-off and hourly product mix.
- Conduct line clearance from packaging and product, including weight and metal detection bins.
- Metal Detector Checks:
- Conduct checks at start-up, hourly, at product change, and end of shift.
- Escalate faults such as non-detection of test pieces or missing pieces.
- Escalate any metal reject packs to the Senior QC.
- Coding Checks:
- Ensure legibility, correct GRN, lot code, BBE, and correct print window on packs.
- Escalate issues to Senior QC where necessary.
- Hygiene & Housekeeping:
- Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards using the crib sheet as reference throughout the shift.
- Allergen Control:
- Ensure allergen-positive release for the lines you are responsible for.
- Use the correct swab for the allergen previously handled on the line.
- Collect photographic evidence and send it to the QA email with the job number.
- Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and correct equipment is in use.
- Pallet Sign-Off:
- Sign off pallets for correct product and packaging, including product labels.
- Check date coding, product, and perform quantity check using random box inspection.
- Final pallet ticket must be verified for quantity and product integrity.
- Sample Collection:
- Retain samples at the start, middle, and end of each production run.
- Ensure one separate sample per run is collected for microbiological testing.
- Changeovers:
- Ensure complete line clean-down from the previous product.
- Follow allergen protocols and ensure line clearance for packaging and labels.
