Position Title: Quality Controller

Location: Paneltex Ltd, Somerden Road, Hull, HU9 5PE

Reporting to: Quality Manager/Quality Supervisor

Hours of work: 40 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 14:00

Salary: £12.50 - £15.00 per hour (DOE)

Job Overview

As a Quality Controller at Paneltex, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all completed vehicles meet customer specifications, quality workmanship standards, and functional requirements. Youll play a key role in maintaining and supporting our ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System, including conducting internal audits, driving problem-solving initiatives, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Youll be part of a committed and collaborative Quality Team that values excellence and growth.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections in accordance with company QMS procedures and documentation.
  • Interpret vehicle specifications and inspection attributes; create inspection documentation for new vehicle models.
  • Support your designated production unit during contracted hours, with occasional mid-week or weekend overtime.
  • Communicate quality-related data and collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement improvements.
  • Raise and manage Deviation Reports (non-conformities), facilitating root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Work closely and professionally with supervisors and managers to achieve company objectives.
  • Occasionally travel to support business needs related to your role.
  • Follow company Health and Safety policies, and be aware of your specific responsibilities.
  • Comply with all relevant internal policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Previous experience in vehicle bodybuilding, caravan manufacturing, or similar hands-on assembly environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret vehicle specifications and technical drawings.
  • A problem-solving mindset and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience creating inspection templates and managing non-conformities.
  • Strong administrative and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills within the Quality Team and across Paneltex products.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including listening and following instructions.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload efficiently.
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work ethic.
  • Flexible approach to working additional hours when required.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who ideally already hold the following qualifications or have relevant equivalent experience:

  • Internal Auditor qualification (ISO9001:2015 or similar)
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
