Job summary

The Butchers Recruiter is seeking a Quality Controller to ensure product safety, legality and quality on the factory floor of a chilled food manufacturing site in the United Kingdom.

You will perform HACCP checks, product specification verifications and maintain accurate records to support traceability and compliance. There’s a clear career pathway and opportunities to progress within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a quality control role in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Good record-keeping and analytical skills.
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Knowledge of HACCP procedures, GMP and food hygiene requirements.
  • Understanding of factory auditing, traceability and food-safety documentation.
  • Ability to complete and maintain accurate compliance records.

Responsibilities

  • Complete factory checks against HACCP procedures and product specifications, escalating discrepancies and non-conformances.
  • Carry out CCP, pre-start, hygiene and measuring-equipment verification checks in line with agreed schedules.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and records to support full product traceability and due diligence.
  • Support investigations into customer complaints, rejected products and factory issues, coordinating documentation and corrective actions.
  • Complete organoleptic assessments and microbiological sampling, collecting and collating samples as required.
  • Monitor food safety, GMP, hygiene and PPE compliance, reporting issues to relevant production and technical management.

When products leave a food manufacturing site, customers need to know they are safe, legal and consistently produced to the required standard. As a Quality Controller, you'll be on the factory floor making sure processes, checks and records stand up to scrutiny while identifying issues before they become bigger problems.

You’ll be working within a diverse, fast-paced, chilled factory environment, alongside production and the wider technical team. There’s also a clear career pathway for people who want to develop their knowledge, take on greater responsibility and build a long-term career within food manufacturing.
