Arthur David Food with Service is seeking a proactive Quality Controller to join our fast-paced wholesale fruit and vegetable business in Bishop Sutton. The role focuses on inspections across the supply chain, ensuring only quality produce is accepted for distribution.

You will support commercial decisions by providing accurate quality assessments, reports, and supplier feedback, while maintaining strict standards and timeliness in a busy environment.

Responsabilidades

• Carry out quality inspections on all incoming fruit and vegetable deliveries
• Assess produce against company and customer specifications
• Complete rejection reports and manage non-conformance procedures
• Communicate with suppliers regarding quality concerns
• Provide updates on stock quality and shelf-life status
• Identify recurring quality trends and supplier performance issues
• Work with procurement, warehouse, and sales to support commercial decisions
• Make informed acceptance decisions with quality and commercial impact
• Monitor shelf life, rotation, and storage conditions in warehouse
• Maintain quality records and documentation
• Support continuous improvement in quality standards and processes

Arthur David Food with Service, are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Quality Controller to join our fast-paced wholesale fruit and vegetable business. This is a hands-on role that plays a key part in maintaining product quality standards while supporting operational and commercial decisions across the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting incoming produce, monitoring quality throughout the supply chain, and ensuring only products that meet company and customer standards are accepted and distributed.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out quality inspections on all incoming fruit and vegetable deliveries
• Assess produce against company and customer specifications
• Complete rejection reports and manage non-conformance procedures where required
• Communicate directly with suppliers regarding quality concerns and product performance
• Provide clear and regular updates to the business on stock quality and shelf-life status
• Identify recurring quality trends and supplier performance issues
• Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and sales teams to support commercial decisions
• Make informed decisions on produce acceptance with both quality and commercial impact in mind
• Monitor product rotation, shelf life, and storage conditions within the warehouse
• Maintain accurate quality records, reports, and documentation
• Support continuous improvement in quality standards and operational processes

Requirements:

• Previous experience within the fresh produce, wholesale, food manufacturing, or quality control sector preferred
• Good knowledge of fruit and vegetable quality standards and shelf-life expectations
• Strong attention to detail and ability to make confident decisions in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance quality with business needs
• Confident working independently and as part of a wider team
• Good organisational and reporting skills
• Competent IT skills and ability to complete reports accurately
• Flexible and hands-on approach to work
• Previous experience within the fresh produce, wholesale, food manufacturing, or quality control sector preferred
• Good knowledge of fruit and vegetable quality standards and shelf-life expectations

Schedule:

• Day shifts
• 04:00-13:00
• 5 days a week

Skills & Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Physically Fit
• Good understanding of written English
• Must be able to work night shifts
• Must be self motivated

Experience:

• Fresh produce : 2 years (required)
• Supply chain: 1 year (preferred)
• Working with BRC Accreditation: 1 year (preferred)
• Quality control: 1 year (required)

Work Authorisation:

United Kingdom (required)

Ability to commute/relocate:

Must be able to get to Bishop Sutton without relying on public transport
