Are you passionate about quality, safety, and making a real impact in the construction materials industry? Heidelberg Materials UK is looking for a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our technical team and ensure our concrete and aggregate products meet the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Testing & Quality Control: Conduct field and lab tests on concrete and aggregates (slump, compressive strength, etc.). Ensure compliance with ASTM, BS EN, and local standards. Analyse data and produce detailed reports.
- Material Inspection: Inspect raw materials (cement, sand, limestone, admixtures). Monitor deliveries and verify against specifications.
- Supervision & Mentorship: Guide junior technicians and review test results. Share technical expertise and training.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, calibration records, and databases. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and regulatory standards. Actively report near misses and ensure safe working practices.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with contractors and quality managers. Conduct site visits and sample collection. Uphold the EDF Code of Conduct for Sizewell C.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
- Liaise with contractors and internal teams to meet customer expectations.
- Report any defects or issues affecting product quality or safety.
- Maintain site cleanliness, security, and professional standards.
- Support investigations into product issues and site practices.
- Challenge unsafe or non-compliant behaviours.
- Transport test specimens as required.
What You’ll Need
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance.
- Level 1 Award Training.
- CSCS certification for construction sites.
- Triple Bar Nuclear New Build qualification.
- NVQ qualification in a relevant field.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
