Brakes are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Supervisor to join the team on site in Newhouse, on a Full Time Permanent basis.

As a Quality Control Supervisor, you will conduct QC assessments of products to ensure quality versus specifications and reject when out of spec. You will monitor fresh produce to ensure consistent customer quality delivered. In this role, you will liaise and report findings to the Sysco GB Technical Teams. The Supervisor role will lead the day’s workload, make key decisions, and be the main contact to support the Quality Manager and respond to any HofDQ, DQM, or TM requests.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Carry out product assessments against specifications and conduct store walks.
  • Analyze customer complaint data (linking with NDCs QCs).
  • Liaise with category TMs and suppliers regarding specifications and product standards following assessments, including product information requests such as surveillance photographs.
  • Perform adhoc reporting or assessments based on company needs; including high-risk customers, new/onboarding, and direct sales issues.
  • Administer rejection and QC hold processes with the business and suppliers.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of produce daily, including compliance with specifications, stock rotation, and inbound produce quality.
  • Follow up with assessments on subsequent batches where appropriate.
  • Assess stock quality at regional depots and provide training on good practices if needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the QC facility and monitor equipment.
  • Support depot training to ensure standards are met.
  • Build good working relationships with NDC QCs, TMs, FD Tech, and depot management.
  • Lead the team to meet key roles and support the Quality Manager with requests.

You:

Essential experience includes working in food operations or with food, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. A background in the food industry and supervisory experience are advantageous. You are customer-focused, with a passion for food and a people-oriented approach. You thrive in team environments, driven by performance and exceeding expectations. Excellent communication skills via phone, Teams, or email are essential. You are self-motivated, independent, proactive, and adaptable, with pride in supervising and supporting your team to ensure smooth operations.
