Quality Control Specialist

The Quality Specialist (QS) willjoin our team to oversee the quality of all AWGs products and services. The QS will develop quality standards, conducting tests and/or make observations identifying challenges, mistakes, or redundancy in the production of our products or services.The QS will work with the internal team to ensure that AWG products meet our organizations standards across the board.

Core Responsibilities

The QS will:

  • Ensure that standards and safety regulations are observed
  • Address and discuss issues and proposed solutions with supervisors and managers
  • Document quality assurance activities and create audit reports
  • Make recommendations for improvement
  • Create training materials and operating manuals
  • Conduct cycle counts and location verifications; consolidate inventory as needed; follow company procedures for handling stock discrepancies
  • Audit inbound freight for quality and purchase order conformance
  • Audit labels and tags on reels; compare batch LRB labels with mfg. labels and cable print
  • Quality check and sign off on all outbound shipments (accuracy, safety, weights, packaging, etc.)
  • Ensure that product gets stored in warehouse, according to the layout plan
  • Perform all physical requirements necessary to lift and move inventory around the warehouse
  • Create and document non-conformance documents for all quality issues
  • Work closely with cutting supervisor to find cable damage
  • Create NC documents and keep records of vendor performance
  • Work closely with shipping supervisor to ensure that all outbound material is quality checked with minimum delay, and customer labels display accurate information
  • Continue to develop and build processes, techniques, and strategies to improve workflow
  • Facilitate security integrity including setting alarms, and locking doors when facility is not operational
  • Communicate with sales/engineering on product discrepancies or issues
  • Assist in any other warehouse duties that may arise
  • Attend training for duties related to position

Qualifications

  • Relevant training and/or certification as a Quality Assurance Specialist
  • Proven work experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist or similar role
  • Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance
  • Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory standards
  • Prior experience at applying quality assurance principles in a warehouse
  • Understands shipping, warehouse, or inventory operations
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent data collection and analysis skills
  • Works quickly and accurately
  • Pays attention to details that matter to the business
  • Generates clear, concise reports that provides management with effective strategies for improvement
  • Exceptional people skills: builds a culture of compliance and overcomes resistance
  • Comfortable leading others through process-improvement
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel programs
