Job summary

STADA UK Thornton & Ross is offering a 12-month Quality Control placement for a 2nd year science student. You’ll work hands-on in the lab, testing materials and finished products to support patient safety, with exposure to HPLC and wet chemistry while following cGMP standards.

You’ll gain practical experience, develop analytical data handling, and contribute to audits and investigations in a collaborative, shift-based environment. July 2027 start, salary £28,000, active benefits included.

Qualifications

  • Currently studying a science related degree.

Responsibilities

  • Test samples in a timely manner to support KPIs.
  • Apply pharmacopoeia methods including HPLC and titration.
  • Interpret data and document analytical results.
  • Prepare records in line with GMP standards.
  • Assess results for out-of-specifications and raise LIRs as needed.
  • Assist with Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations.
  • Work across rotating early/late shifts.

Step into the heart of laboratory science as a QC Analyst and see your work make a real impact from day one. In this role, you’ll generate high‑quality, accurate and timely data that keeps our products safe, effective and ready for patients and customers. You’ll be hands‑on in the lab, testing raw materials and finished products using HPLC and wet chemistry techniques, amongst others, spotting and investigating data anomalies, and contributing to team and site‑wide objectives. You’ll also help keep our laboratory systems robust and compliant, gaining invaluable experience while working to technical, operational, SHE and cGMP standards every step of the way.

We’re looking for a curious, motivated 2nd year BSc (MChem would also be considered) student looking for a one-year placement in pharmaceutical manufacturing, who enjoys solving problems, is comfortable with change and ambiguity, and is excited to bring fresh ideas to help shape the future of our QC team.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Testing samples in a timely manner to contribute towards fulfilling KPIs (Key Performance indicator)
  • Use a variety of pharmacopoeia test methods, including titration, HPLC, UV, IR, gravimetric analysis
  • Data interpretation of results
  • Completion of analytical records as per GMP requirements
  • Assessing results for out of specifications and raising LIRs when required
  • Assisting with Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations
  • Working shift patterns available are Rotational days
    • Mon-Thu 0600-1336 / 1330-2200
    • Fri: 0600-1336 / 1330-1730

  • Currently studying a science related degree
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders in person, by phone, chat messaging, and email
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and creativity
  • Good IT skills with a proven ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
  • A precise and accurate analytical testing technique.
  • High level of integrity
  • Willingness to adapt to situations and a flexible approach to work
