Job summary

GE Vernova Grid Solutions in Stafford is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to reinforce manufacturing quality across HVDC transformer products. You will lead inspection activities, validate processes, calibrate equipment, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, high-quality output.

You will manage quality records, support End of Manufacturing reporting, and ensure adherence to internal standards and customer requirements in a fast-paced industrial

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Quality Control or Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control techniques and inspection processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality products.
  • Experience conducting audits and supporting quality compliance activities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyse problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and safe working practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Quality Inspection team.
  • Conduct competency validations for operators and inspectors to ensure compliance.
  • Define and implement quality control requirements across design, incoming goods inspection and manufacturing.
  • Manage calibration of measurement equipment and ensure inspection equipment remains compliant.
  • Perform workstation spot checks, support workshop assessments and conduct compliance audits.
  • Lead quality governance activities, including QR1 and QR2 meetings.
  • Drive continuous improvement to strengthen processes and reduce defects.
  • Support development and maintenance of Manufacturing Control Plans and inspection documentation.
  • Manage quality records and ensure accurate administration and document control.
  • Review and consolidate End of Manufacturing Reports for Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve operational performance.

Job Description Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our team in Stafford. This role is essential in ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the manufacturing process for our HVDC Power Transformer products. You will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by leading quality inspection activities, validating quality processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer requirements. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, you will help deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality products that support the global energy transition.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Following all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and safe working practices
  • Providing technical support and guidance to the Quality Inspection team
  • Conducting operator and quality inspector competency validations to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Ensuring quality control requirements are clearly defined and implemented throughout design, incoming goods inspection, and manufacturing processes

What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a Quality Control or Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment

Desirable Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of transformer design and manufacturing processes
  • Internal Auditor qualification or equivalent auditing experience
  • Experience within an electro-mechanical or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Control Plans and quality governance processes
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience working within regulated manufacturing environments
Additional Information

Shift Pattern: Rotating Monday to Friday: 6am to 2pm, and Monday to Friday: 2pm to 10pm
