GE Vernova in Stafford, United Kingdom, seeks an exceptional HVDC Programme Manager to lead a defined portfolio of HVDC Reference Solutions. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams across locations, owning planning, governance and delivery to improve reuse, reduce lead times and strengthen competitiveness.
The role requires strong programme leadership, ability to operate in ambiguity, and collaboration with a Technical Lead to drive scalable solutions across tendering and project execution.
Put simply, this role is about bringing people together and making sure a complex HVDC engineering programme gets delivered successfully. Our HVDC Reference Solutions team is developing more standardised, repeatable solutions that can be reused across future projects and tenders – helping reduce unnecessary re‑engineering, improve consistency and make delivery more efficient. As the HVDC Programme Manager, you’ll lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team working across different functions and locations. You’ll create structure, set priorities, keep people aligned and make sure the agreed scope moves forward. You’ll work closely with a Technical Lead, who owns the detailed technical direction, while you focus on programme delivery, organisation and leadership. Because Reference Solutions is still evolving, not every process is already defined. We’re therefore looking for someone who is comfortable with complexity and ambiguity – someone who can take an objective, bring the right people together and confidently turn it into something practical and deliverable.
Do you want to lead a high‑profile programme helping shape how HVDC solutions are standardised, delivered and reused across some of the world’s most complex power transmission projects? GE Vernova is looking for an exceptional HVDC Programme Manager to join our HVDC Tendering & Reference Solutions team based in Stafford, United Kingdom.

The HVDC Programme Manager will lead the delivery of a defined portfolio of HVDC Reference Solutions, bringing together multidisciplinary teams to create scalable, repeatable solutions for use across tendering and project execution. You will take ownership of a complex programme of engineering work, providing the organisation, leadership and delivery focus needed to bring together a geographically dispersed matrix team. Working in close partnership with a Technical Lead, you will drive planning, coordination and delivery while helping shape ways of working within an evolving Reference Solutions organisation. Driving the deployment and continuous improvement of repeatable HVDC reference solutions across tendering and project execution. Collaborating across Engineering, Tendering, Projects, Sourcing, NPI and other key functions to align priorities, resolve challenges and support effective implementation. Improving engineering reuse, delivery efficiency, cost and lead‑time performance by embedding lessons learned and promoting greater standardisation. Identifying programme risks, dependencies and opportunities, bringing stakeholders together to resolve issues and maintain delivery momentum.
Some travel within the UK and internationally may be required to support business, project and stakeholder needs. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across different locations and time zones.
You should be a confident engineering and programme leader who can bring structure to complex work, influence across a matrix organisation and drive delivery in an environment where processes and ways of working continue to evolve. The ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary, geographically dispersed teams without relying on direct reporting lines. A strong understanding of HVDC technology and engineering environments, with the credibility to work effectively alongside experienced technical specialists. Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering programmes, projects or scopes within HVDC, power transmission or a similarly complex engineering environment. Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the confidence to establish priorities, create structure and maintain momentum across multiple stakeholders. The capability to operate with autonomy and ambiguity, using sound judgement and initiative to develop practical ways forward where processes are not fully established. Strong stakeholder and commercial awareness, with an understanding of how engineering decisions affect cost, lead time, delivery performance and competitiveness. Experience or exposure to engineering standardisation, reference solutions, reusable engineering packages or industrialisation would be advantageous. A University Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering/technical discipline is required as a prerequisite, as the role requires the engineering grounding necessary to understand complex HVDC solutions, work credibly with technical teams and lead multidisciplinary engineering delivery.
