Mackinnon Bruce International are partnered with an international manufacturer in the essential oils and natural products industry. They are seeking a Quality Control Analyst to join their QC team in Chertsey, Surrey.

The role focuses on analysis, testing, and quality assurance of essential oils, carrier oils, and blended products in line with Good Laboratory Practices. You will perform GC/FID, GC/MS, HPLC, and FAME testing and generate Certificates of Analysis and Technical Data Sheets.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience or strong interest in flavors/fragrances/essential oils
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
• Good team-working skills and flexible approach

Responsibilities

• Carry out chemical, physical, and organoleptic analysis of essential oils, carrier oils, and blends
• Perform data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of Certificates of Analysis and Technical Data Sheets
• Maintain accurate records and conduct instrument validations to ensure instruments are fit for purpose
• Assist in implementing ISO 9001 and help prepare SOPs, STPs, and safety procedures
• Communicate results with production, development, and purchasing teams and manage sample entry/dispatch

The Role

This is a technically focused, laboratory-based position responsible for the analysis, testing, and quality assurance of essential oils, carrier oils, and blended products in line with Good Laboratory Practices.

• Carry out chemical, physical, and organoleptic analysis of essential oils, blending, and carrier oils using GC/FID, GC/MS, HPLC, and FAME testing.
• Perform data analysis, interpretation, and deliver accurate reports including Certificates of Analysis and Technical Data Sheets.
• Maintain accurate analysis records and conduct routine instrument validations to ensure systems are fit for use.
• Assist in the implementation of ISO 9001 and work alongside the QA Manager to prepare SOPs, STPs, and safety procedures.
• Liaise with production, development, and purchasing departments to communicate results and manage sample entry and dispatch.

The Requirements

• Laboratory experience and skills will be highly beneficial. Background in flavors, fragrances, or essential oils will be desirable, but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); knowledge of ERP systems is advantageous.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple assignments.
• Good team working skills with a self-motivated, flexible approach to work.
• A willingness to learn, follow instructions, and develop within the role.
