Job summary

McLaren Automotive is recruiting a Quality Compliance Engineer in Woking to join the Quality team within the Compliance group. You will plan and execute COP activities, ensure alignment with IATF 16949, and drive ELV/RRR and QMS compliance across the department.

The role requires a university engineering or systems degree and experience with automotive quality systems. You will report to the Compliance Manager and contribute to continuous improvement and governance across the business processes.

Qualifications

  • COP planning and execution experience
  • Knowledge of QMS and IATF 16949 requirements
  • Experience with ELV/RRR compliance and regulatory aspects
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement across the Quality department
  • Experience planning internal audits and COP-related activities

Responsibilities

  • Create and validate COP control plans for vehicle variants and COP test plans
  • Plan and execute COP activities to meet schedules
  • Coordinate COP audits in line with Certification Authorities requirements
  • Develop and execute internal audit plans and conduct audits
  • Drive certification to IATF 16949 and related processes
  • Assess ELV/RRR compliance and drive issue resolution
  • Generate reports to demonstrate COP/ELV/RRR/QMS progress
  • Identify process improvements within the Compliance function
  • Maintain Compliance documentation aligned with QMS
  • Support ongoing improvement of Compliance systems and reporting
  • Leverage prior automotive experience to strengthen processes
  • Apply knowledge of passenger car regulatory requirements

Job description

We are recruiting for a Quality Compliance Engineer to join our Quality team in Woking. Working within the Compliance team in the Quality Compliance and Change Management department where you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and execution of activities associated with the Conformity of Production (COP) requirements, and the execution of the COP Control plan.
  • Planning and execution of activities associated with compliance to Quality Management System requirements and IATF 16949 standard.
  • Planning and execution of activities associated ELV/RRR compliance.
  • Facilitation of the Continuous Improvement (CI) process and related activities supporting all functions within the Quality department.

This is a critical role in the department ensuring the business and its products are consistently compliant to regulatory requirements and the IATF 16949 standard. Reporting to the Compliance Manager the role encompasses the independence, self-management and objectivity necessary to drive all stakeholders in the key business processes as per their responsibility and accountability.

What You'll Do
  • Create new and validate existing COP Control plans for all vehicle variants to define yearly COP Test plan.
  • Plan and execute activities ensuring timely completion of the COP test plan.
  • Ensure COP related audits are effectively planned and executed (in line with the Certification Authorities requirements).
  • Creation and timely execution of the internal audit plan (conduct internal audits in line with the yearly plan).
  • Facilitate completion of all activities leading to the company certification to the IATF 16949 automotive standard.
  • Conduct component assessments in line with End of Life Vehicle (ELV) and Reuse Recycle Recover (RRR) regulatory requirement and drive resolution to all follow-up activities.
  • Define and generate adequate COP/ELV/RRR/QMS compliance related reports to demonstrate progress status as necessary and communicate effectively to the business.
  • Proactively assess existing department processes for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain all Compliance related internal documentation in line with the requirements of the QMS.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the Compliance systems, processes and reporting.
  • Previous experience in automotive industry is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements applicable to passenger cars including conformity of production procedures is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in Quality Management Systems and processes is beneficial.
  • Project management skills are beneficial.
  • University degree is required - Systems or Engineering degree is preferred but not essential
  • Relevant previous experience in any of the relevant functions (COP, QMS, ELV/RRR)
