Job description

This role reports into the Paint Supervisor and requires a minimum level of supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for all Painting and grit blast inspection, documentation, processes.

Duties will include:

  • In process checks for painting at each stage/paint coat. This includes visual, DFT, WFT, paint adhesion tests and P.I.G tests when requested
  • In process checks for surface preparation. Check blast profile IAW MTSP 187
  • Adherence to MTSP 187
  • Environmental condition adherence in blast booth and paint booth
  • Calibration of equipment monitored and recorded on QC forms. Control of calibration periods
  • Responsible for all quality records traceability and adherence to specifications
  • Compliance to Warpaint procedure. Review MTSP's to ensure they reflect Warpaint requirements and update accordingly
  • Compliance to BR3939 procedure and review MTSP's to ensure they reflect BR3939 requirements and update accordingly
  • Rework process/rework operations to be defined by paint inspector and supplied to Production Engineering for creation of operations on IFS
  • Responsible for Material storage/stock control
  • Oversee the preparation of paint materials (correct volumes / minimizing waste)
  • Responsible for checking blast profiles, visual checks and environmental conditions are correct to procedure and maintained
  • Liaise and communicate with other departments as necessary building strong working relationships
  • Product release - any products leaving the paint/finishing area, quality control in line with customer specifications
  • Continually look for ways in which to improve processes


Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • ICORR Level II or III Paint Inspection
  • COSHH
  • Effective relationship skills with internal staff/external suppliers
  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills


Desirable

  • Warpaint standards understanding
  • BR3939 awareness
  • Experience of managing a paint / coating department within an engineering manufacturing environment
