Job Purpose

As a Quality Auditor (Intake), you'll play a key role in ensuring that all raw material deliveries, including packaging, meet company and customer specifications. You'll carry out inspections and testing on incoming materials, identify any non-conformities, and liaise directly with suppliers to drive investigations and ensure issues are resolved effectively. Your work will help maintain the highest standards of quality, food safety and compliance from the very start of the production process.

Key Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Manage the receipt of raw materials and packaging, ensuring all deliveries comply with approved specifications, artwork and QAS requirements, and that all required certifications and supporting documentation meet agreed standards.
  • Ensure chemical, microbiological and organoleptic samples are collected in line with current sampling and testing schedules, following the required procedures to maintain sample integrity and traceability.
  • Ensure samples are booked onto the laboratory portal and dispatched to the appropriate laboratory for testing. Review and assess results before releasing materials, and promptly report, investigate and action any out-of-specification results.
  • Inspect incoming packaging against approved standards, specifications and artwork requirements before authorising its release for use.
  • Conduct and document temperature verification checks for products and the relevant production or storage environments, escalating any results outside defined limits.
  • Conduct CCP verification activities relevant to the area being worked in, accurately record findings and promptly report any non-conformances for appropriate corrective action.
  • Participate in regulatory, certification and customer audits, supporting audit preparation, providing relevant evidence and assisting with the timely completion of any resulting corrective actions.
  • Conduct scheduled calibration and verification checks on relevant equipment, accurately record the results and elevate any equipment found to be outside acceptable tolerances.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding non-conformances, obtain appropriate investigation findings and corrective actions, and provide clear feedback and updates to the site.
  • Complete and communicate supplier non-conformance reports (DMRs) and rejection notifications, ensuring sufficient follow-up so that investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Support the investigation, preparation and communication of supplier Defective Material Reports (DMRs), ensuring issues are clearly documented and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Support the investigation, preparation and communication of customer and retailer complaint responses, ensuring complaints are investigated thoroughly and within agreed timescales. Gather and review relevant production, quality, traceability and supporting evidence; identify root causes; document investigation findings clearly; and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are agreed, recorded, communicated and followed through to completion. Provide accurate, professional and timely responses that meet customer and retailer requirements, escalating significant or recurring issues where appropriate and supporting complaint trending to help prevent recurrence.
  • Place materials on hold or release them using the ERP system, ensuring the correct material status is maintained and all actions are appropriately documented and traceable.
