Job description

ABP is one of Europe's leading privately owned food processors. The group operates across many businesses, spanning Ireland, the UK and Continental Europe and consists of 4 separate divisions; ABP Beef, ABP Proteins, ABP Renewables and ABP Pet Foods. ABP have recently acquired Janan Meat Ltd, which is one of Europe's leading providers of British quality lamb and mutton, supplying to customers across the UK, EU, Canada, UAE, Middle East and beyond.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Auditor to join our team. The ideal candidate for this role would have experience in auditing, compliance work and a sound understanding of the food industry. However, this is not compulsory, and there will be ample training opportunities provided to the job holder.

A willingness to learn and an enthusiastic, professional attitude towards an exciting role within the industry is essential.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

You must be able to demonstrate a background and understanding of working within a busy food production environment. The candidate will enjoy challenging, problem-solving roles and be ideally suited to a fast-paced environment. You will need to have good interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task.

  • Desirable: Food Safety Level 2 and HACCP Level 2 - if not, training will be given
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written in English
  • Ability to communicate at all levels

  • Able to work to deadlines
  • Desirable: Working knowledge within the meat industry and an understanding of animal welfare

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

  • Undertake daily, weekly, and monthly technical tasks within the standard operating procedures
  • Perform documented quality checks and monitor performance to ensure that food safety and quality standards are followed
  • Ensure that all records are completed correctly and stored in the correct manner
  • Understand requirements of internal, second and third party standards in the manufacturing area
  • Understand non-conformance and reporting requirements for non-conformance and escalate to management
  • Conduct basic root cause analysis for defects, non-conformances, or other quality failures
