Quality Assurance Assistant
  • Location: Reading
  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm


Reed Food & FMCG are partnering with a Food Business in Reading as they search for a Quality Assurance Assistant to join their team. This role involves administering all Quality and Food Safety information and ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for their first role within the Food Industry, or someone who has transferable skills from the Food & Beverage industry. Full training will be given.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct incoming goods inspection and reporting, including routine checks and first deliveries of new or revised products and packaging.
  • Assist in the launch of new or revised products from new or alternative suppliers, including specification comparison, supplier approval, and label changes.
  • Manage customer questionnaires, specifications, and provide necessary accreditation and compliance evidence.
  • Handle customer notifications following specification changes and manage updates on various legislative and regulatory platforms such as ERUDUS, QADEX, SEDEX, and RASFF.
  • Review and process short-dated reports and shelf-life extension requests.
  • Participate in internal audits and support third-party and regulatory inspections.
  • Engage in mock recall exercises to test traceability systems and assist in tracing raw materials to finished goods.
  • Maintain QA documentation and traceability records in compliance with regulatory and company policies.
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain lab and testing equipment, and assist in investigating product non-conformances and root cause analysis.
  • Enforce good storage practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Food Safety Plans.
