The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable.

Job Overview

Assist the Quality Assurance Officer with the maintenance and development of the Pharmaceutical Quality Management System (PQS) system to required licence, regulations and legislation.

Provide support to the Quality Assurance Officer related to environmental testing for NWSSP Pharmacy

Assist the head of quality with internal auditing process of the PQS within NWSSP Pharmacy, including audit of testing projects, validation activities, and deviation investigations and to coordinate and liaise on non-compliances issued to both physical and biological departments.

Main duties of the job

Provide support for the GMP compliant and UKAS accredited environmental monitoring analytical service, complying with, ISO 17025 and 9001 to Internal and External NHS and commercial clients, to enable the client to comply with relevant Pharmaceutical, British, European or International standards.

To act as releasing officer for products manufactured under the MS Licence

Provide advice, information and training in aspects of the PQS for Environmental monitoring analysis and ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements in the department.

Essential criteria

  • AT LEAST ONE of the following: Relevant scientific degree BTEC Pharmaceutical Science, with NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services, or The principles of aseptic pharmaceuticals processing (Level 3)

Desirable criteria

  • Supervisory management qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience working in an MHRA licenced manufacturing unit, or comparable production environment

Desirable criteria

  • Wider experience of pharmaceutical industry including procurement, stores and distribution

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Computer skills to include word processing and data entry i.e. spreadsheets and databases
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate injections or prepare pharmaceutical products
  • Strong organisational skills

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to remain calm in a busy environment
  • Approachable and professional manner
  • Committed to continuing professional development
