Job description

Purpose of the Role: The Quality Assurance Role provides a vital service to the Boning Hall, Beef abattoir, Lairage, Tripery, and Fifth quarter teams by ensuring all customer, legislative, and industry-required checks are completed to schedule. It plays a key role in the control, monitoring, and verification activities required by the site's H.A.C.C.P food safety management system.

Main Responsibilities
  • Complete necessary checks on livestock and products to meet customer and legislative specifications, including animal welfare, temperature monitoring, contamination checks, label verification, and product standards.
  • Ensure all products leave the factory within set limits and criteria, maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity in checks.
  • Verify label accuracy and ensure relevant monitoring and verification practices are completed in line with H.A.C.C.P plans.
  • Collect samples and conduct testing such as carcass pH, DNA, and other relevant analyses according to schedules.
  • Record results accurately using systems like Trace Soft and other documentation methods.
  • Perform calibration checks on equipment, including scales and machinery, before, during, and after production.
  • Undertake internal audits at required frequencies to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain high standards of written English for documentation purposes.
Person Specification
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential.
  • Level 2 certification in food hygiene and awareness of H.A.C.C.P principles are desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Qualifications in Maths & English (GCSE or equivalent) are required.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, multitask, and work independently.

The role involves working Monday to Friday, with shifts from 5 am to 3 pm, 6 am to 4 pm, or 7 am to 5 pm. Salary is £12.94 per hour, with 31 days annual leave after probation.
