Staff Position

This is an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of the QSSHE team, reporting to the Senior Projects QSHE Engineer and supporting operations in the Southern North Sea.

The role involves providing advice and support—including coaching and monitoring—to ensure quality assurance and control processes are effectively implemented, preventing financial and HSE risks associated with project activities, operational changes, and third-party service delivery.

This is a permanent staff position, working Monday to Friday, based in Norwich.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and maintain quality strategies and systems to support onshore and offshore operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health, safety, environmental protection, and loss prevention performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all QSSHE regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a register of applicable codes and standards required for daily operations and project activities.
  • Provide support to project teams and other departments (Integrity, Wells, and Operations Support) to ensure quality risks are properly identified and managed.
  • Oversee development and auditing of Quality Plans, Quality Control Plans, and Project Quality Procedures to guarantee compliance with contractual requirements and ISO standards.
  • Assess vendor and subcontractor suitability for specific scopes of work.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to internal teams to ensure compliance with the Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS).
  • Review and approve contractor quality documentation and conduct audits per procurement processes.
  • Develop and implement an audit program for third-party contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure contracts include adequate provisions for QA/QC and support tendering processes by reviewing vendor quality plans and inspection protocols.
  • Support the Management Assurance (Audit) Program, including training and coaching internal auditors.
  • Maintain a fit-for-purpose management system covering quality, safety, security, health, and environmental aspects.
  • Provide leadership on quality issues across the organization.
  • Support teams in conducting Total Risk Management (TRM) Reviews, HAZIDs, and Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO certifications, including ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001.

Key Requirements Include:

  • Degree-level qualification (minimum HNC) in Science or Engineering.
  • Preferably qualified Auditor to ISO 9001:2000 or CQI registered Auditor.
  • Proven experience in auditing and training auditors.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9000, API, and relevant industry codes and standards.
  • Ideally, 10+ years of experience in oil and gas QA/QC or a minimum of 5 years in another relevant process industry.
  • 5+ years’ experience working within the UK oil and gas regulatory framework.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to work across teams and external partners.
  • Ability to quickly assess problems and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Capable of handling complex engineering and personnel issues across different operational areas.
  • Excellent communication skills regarding QA/QC topics at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
