Quality Assurance Officer Day Shift - Maternity Secondment

Alepat Taylor is a proud family-owned bottling and canning company located in Preston. Operating since 1978, we specialize in manufacturing and distributing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

We are seeking a team-oriented individual to take up the full-time position of Quality Assurance Technician for a 12-month maternity secondment.

You must have a strong focus on quality and safety, be able to work as part of an effective team, and also independently. A working knowledge of HACCP and strong communication skills with a dedication to getting it right the first time are essential, along with the ability to work closely and constructively with our customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Managing the daily QA activities for bottling, including start-up checks and ongoing production run checks.
  2. Creating job bags/packaging specifications according to the production schedule and product release at the end of production.
  3. Participating in the Internal audit team conducting GMP, Bag Audits, etc., including verification and validation activities.
  4. Performing laboratory analysis and testing of alcoholic and non-alcoholic products safely and efficiently.
  5. Calibrating lab instruments.
  6. Reviewing and approving test results prior to communication to clients.
  7. Participating as a member of the tasting panel for product assessment and approval.
  8. Ensuring products canned comply with customer specifications, Alepat Taylor Quality Manual, and Code of Good Manufacturing Practice.
  9. Maintaining all related documentation accurately and efficiently within the Lab/Quality System library.
  10. Liaising with suppliers regarding non-conforming materials.
  11. Assisting the QA team as required and covering for bottling line QA when team members are away.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. Formal qualifications in quality, food science, or a related discipline.
  2. Minimum of 1 year QA experience in the beverage, wine, spirits, or food industry is a distinct advantage.
  3. Sound knowledge of HACCP and GMP.
  4. A strong focus on quality, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  5. A strong work ethic and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently with limited supervision.
  6. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  7. Beverage Canning experience is advantageous.
