An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (29 hours per week) Quality Assurance Officer within the Business Services Team of the Environment and Transport Department.

The successful candidate will join a small Business Services team that provides a number of key business support functions to the department.

The role supports the Senior Quality Assurance Officer in maintaining the department's Quality Management System, ensuring alignment with the Asset Management System. Assisting with the external and internal audit programs and playing a supporting role in continuous improvement initiatives.

We are looking for someone that has attention to detail, with a structured approach and an interest in developing within the quality field - particularly in maintaining and improving standards

About the Role

You will support the Senior Quality Assurance Officer to manage the delivery of both the internal and external audit programs and monitor actions raised during audits and management meetings. Support managers in identifying and implementing improvement actions based on outcomes and conduct internal audits independently.

You will assist teams in the development of continuous improvement and quality assurance activities by developing, reviewing and maintaining process charts and other documentation associated with the Quality Management System (QMS) and assist with Document Control within the Asset Management System as well as managing the departmental QMS web pages.

You will lead improvement projects, advising and supporting teams to comply with Quality Management Systems, quality procedures and working practices. You will also undertake process mapping and work with teams on process improvement and efficiency.

You will organise and prepare for key meetings, which will include minutes of meetings, preparation of report and presentation of results where appropriate.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have English and Mathematics at GCSE grade 4-9 and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of auditing requirements and knowledge of the concepts of asset management and quality management systems.
  • Have experience in working with staff at all levels, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Demonstrate a professional, tactful and diplomatic approach, while fostering positive relationships and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Have good organisational, prioritisation and planning skills with a flexible approach and the ability to work under pressure dealing with changing deadlines.
  • Have excellent ICT skills with experience in using a range of Microsoft packages (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio) with the ability to maintain and monitor records as well as produce process charts and use flowchart software.
  • Be able to travel to locations across the County as required.
