Job description

Management of the implementation of a quality management system and its effectiveness in meeting business, statutory, legal, and contractual requirements. Engages with business stakeholders to manage compliance to requirements, supporting a resilient business that manages risks effectively. The role is a key enabler to change and business improvement.

You'll be responsible for:

  1. Delivering delegated elements of an annual business plan to time and budget.
  2. Managing and facilitating external certification audits.
  3. Supporting achievement of new certifications where appropriate.
  4. Organising and facilitating internal audits in the audit programme.
  5. Conducting audits and producing audit reports.
  6. Undertaking investigations and root cause analysis of instances of non-conformance, including the identification of corrective measures and long-term preventative measures.
  7. Reviewing management system content for appropriateness, improvement, and implementation.
  8. Participation in the identification of new systems and processes to drive efficiency.
  9. Ensuring information for quality reports is available, accurate and delivered within agreed timescales.
  10. Producing communication articles, plans and communication collateral.
  11. Contributing to all activities reported in management reviews, collating, analysing, and presenting data and key metrics.
  12. Providing recommendations for action to mitigate risk and improve management system effectiveness.
  13. Providing support to business development activities.
  14. Developing and delivering training.
  15. Monitoring performance of a supply chain, including support to suppliers as appropriate through training, guidance, and audits of their QMS capabilities.
  16. Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and sharing responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

  1. Good knowledge of management principles and operational controls through the delivery lifecycle.
  2. Experience in development and implementation of tools and techniques in an operational environment.
  3. High level of knowledge and understanding of current industry standards and regulations.
  4. Experience in carrying out 1st and 2nd party audits.
  5. Strong organisational and time management skills.
  6. Effective communicator at all levels, with excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
  7. Results driven.
  8. Stays on task to completion particularly in the face of obstacles.
  9. Maintains impartiality and takes a pragmatic approach when evaluating evidence.
  10. Prepared to challenge and question.
  11. Report writing skills.
  12. Enthusiastic.
  13. Ability to adapt to change.
  14. Listens and clarifies to check understanding.
  15. Uses the most appropriate method and style of communication.
  16. Involves and encourages others.
  17. Educated to HNC/HND or country equivalent as a minimum, ideally in an industry related subject (or equivalent).
  18. Good IT skills in Microsoft office.
  19. Ability to use industry recognised standard software systems.
  20. Similar quality assurance focussed role experience.

You'll also have:

  1. Experience in implementation of digital control tools.
  2. Understanding of key project controls and processes such as design, procurement, tendering and project delivery.
  3. Understanding of outsourced business models.
  4. Knowledge of ISO9001.
  5. NVQ Level 4 in an appropriate subject (or equivalent).
  6. Membership to a related professional organisation.
  7. Lead auditor qualification (or equivalent).
  8. Ability to learn quickly and adopt new IT skills.
  9. Data analysis.
  10. Work from their own initiative.
  11. Showing leadership and working with others.
