Job Description:

The Quality Assurance Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of our apprenticeship and commercial programs. This position is integral to maintaining our reputation for good quality education and ensuring that our training meets the highest standards. Responsibilities include leading quality assurance processes, supporting one IQA, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

The manager will support the improvement of operational performance, work on quality projects, and curriculum design aligned with the Pier Training quality assurance strategy. As the Ofsted nominee, you will lead monitoring and inspection visits, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in Quality Improvement within work-based learning and Apprenticeships
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to support and implement quality activities
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Objective evaluation and decision-making skills
  • Leadership in internal quality assurance and collaboration
  • Knowledge of quality improvement policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Management System:

  • Develop and maintain a robust QMS
  • Review and update quality procedures
  • Train staff on quality systems

Internal Audits:

  • Conduct regular audits, mainly focusing on apprenticeships
  • Report findings and ensure corrective actions

Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to regulations (Ofsted, Department of Education, awarding bodies)
  • Prepare for inspections and audits
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, mentors, and partners
  • Gather and use feedback for improvements

Training and Development:

  • Provide quality assurance training to staff
  • Support staff professional development

Documentation:

  • Maintain records of QA activities
  • Report to senior management

Problem Solving:

  • Identify and address non-compliance issues
  • Review and improve curriculum and assessment processes

Key Measures:

  • Focus on learner outcomes and Ofsted success
  • Maintain high standards in teaching and learner files
  • Regular policy review and updates
  • Ensure EPA readiness and quality improvement planning

The role involves managing one IQA and suits someone interested in working in a small, growing institute with a niche apprenticeship provision.
